Bio& Artists statement

My work spans drawing, painting, collage, small scale sculpture and experimental Stopmotion film.

Sculptural work with paper concentrates on transforming 2D drawings and paintings into 3D sculptural objects, using personal drawings, with their intrinsic individual histories of mark making. The process stretches my subjective attachment to my drawings and challenges me to consider the sculptural form and the significance of mark making in an objective way.

I experiment using a range of papers, including wall papers, photographic prints, drawing and watercolour papers and Japanese papers. I am interested in the paper’s qualities of fragility, instability and softness. These act as a counter to traditional, monumental, hard sculptural materials of metals, stone and wood.

Recent Stopmotion film work concentrates on simplicity and repetitive process.
